The purpose of the Maryland Catholic Woman of the Year award is to recognize outstanding women in the state of Maryland who live their faith daily. These women’s lives exemplify the virtues of faith, hope and love. Like our holy Mother, Mary, these women intercede for others and lead those around her to Jesus Christ. They particularly demonstrate spirituality, leadership and service to Christ, His Church and society.

To qualify for this award the woman must:

  • Be Catholic
  • Lay woman 18 years or older
  • A member in good standing of a parish in the state of Maryland (Archdiocese of Baltimore, Archdiocese of Washington, or Diocese of Wilmington)
  • Serves her family, parish, diocese and community in different voluntary capacities advancing growth in spirituality, leadership and service to Christ, His Church and society
  • Shall not have been selected Woman of the Year in the past five (5) years

This award is not intended to be a lifetime achievement award, rather an award to acknowledge our fellow women sharing their relationship with Christ with those in their lives. Whether the woman you think of as a leader in the faith is highly involved or quietly interceding, the ideal candidate is one who makes an impact by living their love of God.

The award will not be a surprise and after nominations, the Maryland Catholic Woman of the Year award committee will contact the finalists for more information.

When completing the nomination form, narrative answers are welcome but not required. Bullet form is acceptable and encouraged if the nominator feels more comfortable in this format.

All nominations are due by September 1, 2023. At the conference, all nominees will be acknowledged, and the award will be presented to the finalist.
