It was partially through ignorance of the true meaning of God’s prophecies that rulers and people misunderstood Christ and put Him to death. They did not know Him; they did not accept Him as the author of all life, or as the author of the new Christian life that He came to live and to perpetuate among all men to the end of time. As tenderly as Jesus provided a big catch and a cooked meal for His disappointed and hungry Apostles, so tenderly does He still pursue souls with His insistent appeal: “Repent and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.”
