Tuesday in Octave of Pentecost–R (I)

Baptism alone seals a person as a child of God, bestows an initial share in Christ’s priesthood, and enriches the soul with divine life. But Jesus instituted also the Sacrament of Confirmation, by which He gives a further indelible seal and a further share in His priesthood, as well as a special grace to live and worship as a mature, apostolic Christian. Because Christ emphasizes the fact that the Holy Spirit continues the work of saving souls, the act of Confirmation is recognized as the means for a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
